SUMMARY:Tundra Swans Nature Walk
DESCRIPTION:Join me for a 1.3-miled paved trail walk on The Great Marsh Trail to see the tundra swans who winter in Elizabeth Hartwell National Wildlife Refuge\, making the annual migration from their Arctic breeding grounds. If you’ve read Santa Overboard\, you know how majestic these birds are. Go inside the pages and experience the romance and beauty of these creatures with Katie\, Deke\, and me in the Great Marsh of Mason Neck. \nTo get to the trailhead parking lot\, navigate to the Joseph V. Gartlan Great Marsh Trail on Google Maps. It’s a parking lot on Gunston Road on the right\, past the entrance to Mason Neck State Park. I will bring extra binoculars and will wait at the parking lot until about 10:15 a.m. We then walk about a half mile to the observation deck\, where a volunteer ranger will share information about the tundra swans.
